Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Saturday announced a hike in bus fares across all categories under automatic fare adjustment mechanism. The increase in the fares came in view of the rise in diesel prices, official sources were quoted as saying. The deluxe category buses will now charge Rs 1.5 per kilometre as against 1.1 paise per kilometre. Also Read - Odisha Plans River Cruises to Promote Tourism Sector

Similarly, the passengers travelling in AC deluxe buses will have to shell out Rs 1.27 per kilometre as against Rs 1.23 per kilometre earlier.

As per reports, this is the fourth time that the bus fares has been hiked in the state this year.

The hike in fares of different categories buses earlier happened in May this year. The reason then also was the rise in fuel prices.
