Mumbai, June 5: A shocking incident which could have turned dreadful was caught on camera at Mumbai’s Kurla railway station on May 13. This was because of a 19-year-old girl who came under the train while crossing the track. Pratiksha Natekar a resident of Bhandup area received no injuries except for one near the left eye as she came under the train. Shocked passengers at the platform could never have thought about a miracle which saved the girls life.
(When she suddenly sees the train, she runs towards it in panic)
The incident was spotted by the camera installed on the platform which took place around 11 am. The people standing on platform 7 of Kurla railway station witnessed a miracle when Bhandup resident Pratiksha was crossing the tracks to get to platform 7, with her earphones plugged in. The train knocked her down and ran over her but she didn’t have any serious external wounds as was taken to Rajawadi Hospital by the Kurla GRP personnel.
(She then runs towards the platform, with commuters ready to pull her to safety)
Speaking to the media, senior police inspector Ashok Bhorade from Kurla Government Railway Police, regarding this incident, said, Natekar was speaking to a friend over the phone while walking on the tracks towards platform 7, which is a loop-line (means trains move in both directions).
“As she was busy over the phone, she didn’t hear a goods train thundering down the tracks. When she suddenly looked up the train had already reached her. She then panicked and ran first towards the platform and then straight into the train.”
(But, she suddenly veers away and stands right in front of the train)
While crossing the track she did not hear the sound of the train as she was using earphone. The driver tried hard to apply brakes but he was unsuccessful and the first wagon had passed over her.
(The train hits her and knocks her over)
The people standing on the platform were sure the girl has died, but that’s when the miracle happened as she was discovered safe and sound. The young girl didn’t have any serious injury while she was taken to the nearest government hospital by the Kurla GRP personnel.
