Agra, August 8: There is much talk about the supposed ‘lawlessness’ in Uttar Pradesh, especially in the light of the recent cases of rape and sexual assault, first alongside a national highway in Bulandshahr, then in a village in Hapur. Now, a CCTV camera video has surfaced, which shows robbers looting a jewellery shop in broad daylight. The incident reportedly took place on Sunday, August 7. On Monday, the footage of the robbery was released by the cops, investigating the case.

The video shows two men, roaming around the showroom, and looting it. However, their faces are not visible on the camera, as they had covered them with a cloth. The men are yet to identified and arrested, with the Uttar Pradesh police trying to look for clues. UP government has come under fire, for allegedly giving free reign to anti-social elements like rapists, dacoits and theives. The Akhilesh Yadav government is being criticised by the Opposition BJP and BSP, for being unable to maintain law and order. The state has fared especially badly in controlling crimes against women, with three major incidents of rape and molestation making it to national news, within a matter of two weeks. After the double rape case of a middle aged woman and her teenage daughter along the national highway Number 91 by armed dacoits shocked the nation, a 19-year-old teacher was also raped along NH-24 in Bareilly. Another gang rape, this time of a 4-year-old, was reported from the remote area of Hapur, where the victim was abducted from her home, raped and brutalised by her neighbour, and abandoned in a village in Kheda.
