Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Anil Chauhan, has issued a strong message to Pakistan. Addressing young military officers on Friday, he said that wars are won not through mere rhetoric and posturing, but through clear purpose, discipline, and concrete action. General Chauhan was speaking as the chief guest at the combined passing out parade for the Autumn Term, December 2025, at the Air Force Academy, Dundigal. His statement is being considered a veiled dig at Pakistan.

In his address, CDS Chauhan targeted Pakistan without naming it. He said that no war can be won by making tall claims or projecting false victories on social media. Real strength comes from preparedness, sound decisions, and their implementation on the ground. He made this statement at a time when despite suffering heavy losses during the war, Pakistan is claiming victory.

The CDS said that instability is growing in many parts of the world today because of weak institutions and hasty decisions. This leads to long-term conflict and insecurity. In contrast, India’s strength lies in its strong institutions, democratic system, and the professionalism of its armed forces.

He praised the Indian Army, saying that discipline, values, and dedication to responsibility are the backbone of the nation’s security. He told the new officers that they are now the custodians of this strong tradition.

General Chauhan also reminded that the new officers are joining the service at a time when the situation continues. In such an environment, it is crucial to remain vigilant and fully prepared at all times. He said that the military’s job is not limited to times of crisis; daily preparedness and vigilance are the true hallmark.

Concluding his address, the CDS urged the officers to lead by example. He said that vigilance, preparedness, and professionalism will determine their success, whether in times of war or peace.
