In order to rescue her son, Tamil Ilakiya rushed to a nearby shop to pledge her jewellery and arranged for the money. When Ravi Kumar returned home to collect the money, Tamil Ilakiya insisted on accompanying him. He asked her not to come with him and said that the kidnappers had instructed him to come alone. He even made several calls to her so that his wife didn’t suspect him.

On the other hand, Tamil Ilakiya filed a complaint with the Ayanavaram police station without informing her husband. When Ravi Kumar returned home with his son, police questioned him and he revealed the truth.

Ravi Kumar told police that he had left the child at his friend Venu’s shop in Peravallur. He handed over the money to Venu and asked him to give it to another man, Anand.

“Venu was not aware of the kidnap drama. He kept the child as Ravi Kumar told him that he had to meet a client and there was nobody at home to look after the boy,” a police officer said.

Ravi Kumar told police that he had staged the drama to repay the sum he had borrowed from Anand.
