Chennai: A juvenile was arrested by the Chennai Police in connection with the rape of a 10-year-old girl. The case is being investigated by the Anna Nagar police under the POCSO Act. The police presented the juvenile before the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), which sent him to a correctional home, The New Indian Express reported, citing police sources.
Chennai Minor Girl Rape Case
Anna Nagar police lodged a case on August 30 based on the complaint given by the victim’s mother. The mother filed the complaint after visiting a doctor. The minor girl was later taken to the Kilpauk Medical College where the reports also suggested that the she was raped.
According to the FIR, police named a 31-year-old man named Sathish as accused. He resides next to the victim’s family and work as a water can supplier.

According to an high-ranking police officer, they’re yet to apprehend Sathish because they don’t have enough proof against him at this point. Meanwhile, they’re furthering their investigations. Reliable police sources have also revealed that the child in question is presently undergoing medical care in the hospital.

Spokesperson for the Child Welfare Committee remarked that they were alerted about the incident by local law enforcement. At this time, their chief concern is guaranteeing that the affected child gets the proper medical care. After the child is released from the hospital, the child’s wellbeing and continued support will be their primary focus. This would include important actions like counselling sessions and providing legal help, as outlined by the CWC’s Chief, Rajkumar Muthukrishnan.
“The police informed the child welfare committee after the FIR in the case was filed. At present, providing treatment to the child is the priority. We will talk to the child after the discharge. We will also provide required support, including counselling and legal support,” said CWC chairman Rajkumar Muthukrishnan.
