Chennai, Mar 18: Jailed AIADMK leader VK Sasikala’s husband, M Natarajan, is admitted to a hospital in Chennai with “severe” chest infection. His condition is said to be critical. He underwent a dual organ transplant in October 2017 and was back in Gleneagles Global Health City two weeks ago. In October last year, 74-year-old Natarajan was admitted to the hospital, where he underwent a liver and kidney transplant. He got organs from 19-year-old Karthik N, who was declared brain dead after a road accident in Pudukottai district.
He had worsening liver and kidney failure and lung congestion, ahead of the twin organ transplant.
Sasikala, serving a four-year imprisonment in a disproportionate assets case in the central prison in Bengaluru, had visited her husband after obtaining emergency parole last year. She was asked to adhere to several conditions, including a gag order on interacting with the media or meeting any political personality during her stay here.
Natarajan was discharged after having completely recovered from the operation with good liver and kidney graft function.
