Raipur: Ahead of the second phase of Chhattisgarh Assembly Election 2018, an IED blast hit state’s Naxal-affected Sukma district on Sunday and left at least three security personnel injured. The blast occurred when the when the security personnel were conducting a search operation in the Bheji and Elarmadgu villages in the district.
The injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital. Sukma Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhishek Meena said, “One jawan was seriously injured in the explosion, while two others sustained minor injuries.” As per police officials, the team was cordoning off the forest area between Bhejji and Elarmadgu villages, which is around 500 km from Raipur when the Naxals detonated an IED.
The blast comes just three days after Naxals killed a road construction contractor and torched six vehicles in the Sukma district. A day before another civilian was injured in an IED blast in the district.
On Sunday, a blast rocked Punjab’s Adliwal village where at least three people were killed and 22 were left injured after 2-3 bike-borne assailants entered the congregation of the Nirankari, a spiritual organisation, in of the city and threw a grenade. Around 200 devotees were inside at the time of the attack. No CCTV camera was installed at the premises.
