New Delhi, May 6: Voting for Karnataka Assembly constituencies of Chikkaballapur, Sidlaghatta, Chintamani, Srinivaspur and Mulbagal (SC) would be held on May 12. Counting of votes would be held on May 15. The Karnataka Assembly elections are being seen as the precursor to 2019 general elections.
Chikkaballapur: JD(S) has fielded KP Bachhegowda against BJP’s Manjunath and Congress’ K Sudhakar. There are 12 candidates in the running. In 2013, K Sudhakar had defeated the JD (S) candidate Bachegowda. This is Assembly constituency number 141.
Sidlaghatta: From Assembly constituency number 142, the BJP has fielded Suresh H while the Congress has V Muniyappa and the JD(S) has BN Ravikumar. Sitting MLA M Rajanna is fighting as in Independent. In 2013, he fought on JD(S) ticket and defeated V Muniyappa. There are 15 candidates in the running.
Chintamani: The BJP has Naa Shankar fighting against Vaani Krishnareddy from the Congress and JK Krishnareddy from JD(S). There are 19 other candidates in the running. In 2013, the JD(S) had defeated Independent candidate MC Sudhakar from Assembly constituency number 143.
Srinivaspur: BJP’s Dr Venu Gopal KN is pitted against Congress candidate KR Ramesh Kumar and JD(S) candidate GK Venkatashivareddy. There are 12 candidates in all. In 2013, the Congress had defeated the JD(S) from this Assembly constituency number 144.
Mulbagal (SC): From Assembly constituency number 145, Amaresh of the BJP is fighting against Samruddhi Manjunath of JD(S). It has a record 39 candidates in the running of which only four have been put up by political parties, the rest being Independent candidates. In 2013, Independent candidate G Manjunath had defeated the JD(S) candidate.
