Rohit Gijare, the second runner-up in Dance India Dance (DID) North America, celebrated the festival of Holi with more than just colors. Using his stunning dance moves, Gijare choreographed a medley of two popular Bollywood Holi songs—“Rang Barse,” from “Kabhi Kabhie” and “Balam Pichkari” from “Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani—and delivered an audio-visual delight.

Gijare came into the limelight and went viral when he danced his way to Beyonce’s “7/11” using Kathak moves. His next claim-to-fame was being selected to participate in DID, where he was the second runner-up. His original moves in his songs like “Joota hai Japani/Suit and Tie Remix” garnered him very well-deserved recognition.

Now, Gijare released his latest video, directed by Raashi Desai, which sees some really energetic dancers groove to the two Holi tracks. The choreography, conceptualized by Gijare and co-choreographed by Shivani Badgi and Preet Kashiparekh, is flawless and full of life, which should come as no surprise to anyone. The music, by Ravi Bhavsar, gives way to tunes being blended like it was meant-to-be. It is the mash-up we never knew we needed.

Dressed in white ethnic wear, the dancers shine on the screen with their radiant smile and the video captures their enthusiasm for getting to play Holi and dance on a beautiful and sunny day.

It’s the kind of Holi you want to be playing.

However, the MVP’s of the whole video are the five kids who are doled out and perform skillfully yet naturally to the “Balam Pichkari” parts of the song.

Instead of the usual and modern take on Holi videos, which now usually involves a man hitting on a woman and obviously lots of bhang, this “Holi Moly! Mashup” certainly brings out the natural  flavor of how Holi is actually celebrated across the world—between family and friends and kids and having insane amounts of fun.

“The celebration of colors is all around us, and this year we wanted to do something special. We have captured the joy and happiness of Holi by bringing together these talented dancers & students to dance to this one-of-kind track,” Gijare said. “We hope the rest of your year is as colorful and joyful as Holi and hope you enjoy watching the video as much we did.”
