As per police, he wasn’t authorised by the NDMA to conduct such training programmes. Arumugam’s degrees, including a PhD were all fake and he had been fooling college authorities since 2011 by sending letters to colleges seeking permission to train students in safety drill. He also did not charge any fee from the colleges for the training he offered. Meanwhile, the NDMA has also clarified that he wasn’t trained by their authorities nor he was a member of the disaster management organisation. Also Read - Kolkata Safest For Women? It must be noted that the college authorities did not run a background check on the accused trainer. As per the college invitation, the safety drill was conducted in the college premises. It also stated that the trainer is from NDMA and no background checks were done on the trainer before. Following the incident, the college authorities declared a holiday yesterday and was evasive.

Meanwhile, police officials have not yet taken any action against the college authorities. The state government on the other hand, has promised to take stringent action. As for the girl’s parents, they vow to get justice for their daughter.
