Chennai, Apr 24: The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam or AIADMK on Tuesday sacked columnist A Thirumalai and a sub-editor after an article hailing party’s ties with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi appeared in its mouthpiece Namathu Amma.

The AIADMK also disowned the article in Namadhu Amma newspaper that said the ruling party and BJP should function as a double-barelled gun. A column by Thirumalai in Namadhu Amma newspaper lauded ties between the AIADMK and the BJP, and PM Narendra Modi.

“We function as a separate party in Parliament and there is no alliance. There is no double-barelled gun now… where is it? The report is wrong,” AIADMK MP M Thambidurai reportedly said. He said the alliance formation will be decided by the leadership during election time.

Thambidurai said former chief minister J Jayalalithaa had run the AIADMK separately and the party would continue to do so. Tamil Nadu Fisheries minister D Jayakumar dismissed the article and said alliances are not decided by columnists.
