Singh has alleged that the attack was done on Awadesh Singh’s direction near Dinesh Singh’s college. Dinesh is Awadhesh’s brother and also the BJP Lok Sabha candidate from Rae Bareli against UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi.

Singh was in her car on Tuesday when the attack took place. The convoy was followed by some men who allegedly also opened fire. Sing was also injured when her vehicle overturned in Harchandpur area.

She alleged that Awadesh Singh’s henchmen were armed with iron rods and bricks and attacked her vehicle. The driver lost control and the SUV overturned.

Singh has claimed that the attack was made at the behest of UP CM Yogi Adityanath. Later, she, along with Congress MLC Deepak Singh and local SP MLA Manoj Pandey, staged protests.

UP Congress tweeted about the attack thus, “The deadly attack on the Congress MLA from Raebareli is a live example of the state’s law and order. We wish them a speedy recovery. When an MLA is not safe, one can only imagine the safety of people of UP.”

Police are currently investigating the matter. Meanwhile, the floor test that Singh was headed for, had to be deferred because the MLA and some zila panchayat members couldn’t reach the district panchayat office.
