New Delhi: UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi during Congress Working Committee’s (CWC) key meeting in Ahmedabad. If reports are to be believed, the former Congress president accused PM Modi of politicising the terror attacks for electoral gains. “People of the country are getting victimised but PM Modi pretends to be the victim himself,”Gandhi reportedly said at the CWC meet.
Her statement comes in the wake of the recent terror attacks in Pulwama that claimed lives of CRPF personnel on February 14. 12 days after the attack, Indian Air Force carried out a pre-emptive strike in Balakot allegedly decimating biggest terror hideouts of JeM.
The Congress party kick-started its campaign for Lok Sabha Elections 2019 today with a high-profile strategy meeting in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home state Gujarat. Later in the day, the newly appointed Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi is expected to address her first public rally at Adalaj town in Gandhinagar.
Speaking to a news agency, a party leader said,”We are expecting a crowd of over three lakh people in the home turf of Modi and BJP president Amit Shah ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.”
Earlier in the day, before the CWC meet, senior party leaders including Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh, as well as current and former party chief ministers visited the Gandhi Ashram and attended a prayer meet. The leaders paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi as March 12 marks the launch of the historic Dandi March by him from the Sabarmati Ashram here in 1930.
