New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party president Amit Shah on Tuesday mocked Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s entry into active politics and claimed that with her, the Congress party will now indulge in more scams than before.  Notably, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was appointed the Congress General Secretary for Uttar Pradesh East  by All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Rahul Gandhi on January 23.

“The UPA government was in power at the Centre for 10 years. At that time the government was ‘2G’ — Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. They managed to do scams of 12 lakh crore rupees. So, if the third G comes in the form of Priyanka Gandhi, who knows how much scam they would do,” the BJP chief said, making a veiled reference to the 2G scam under the erstwhile UPA regime at the Centre.

While addressing a Ganatrantra Bachao Yatra at Contai in West Bengal’s East Midnapore district, Shah also drew parallel between TMC and Congress and said that both the parties are two sides of the same coin which believe in “parivartantra” (family rule).

“Congress is synonymous to dynasty politics. After Indira Gadhi, there was Sanjay Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and now Priyanka Gandhi… Similarly, in Trinamool Congress Banerjee’s nephew is getting ready to take over after her. Dynasty politics is never good for the country. Do you agree with this parivarvad? This cannot develop the country” he stated

He added,”They offer you a ‘Mazboor’ (compelled) government, we offer you a ‘Mazboot’ (strong) government. Only Narendra Modi’s leadership can come up with a strong government.”

Shah also lambasted West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee after her paintings were brought for crores by owners of chit fund companies.

“Are you all aware of Mamata Banerjee’s qualities? She is a very good painter. Even if someone is a great painter, how much would his paintings cost? (Rs) 10,000, (Rs) 20,000, (Rs) one lakh or (Rs) 10 lakh. But her paintings were brought by chit fund owners for crores of rupees. So, will the chit fund owners ever be arrested if the person, whose paintings they had brought, is the chief minister?,” he asked.

Shah claimed that over 25 lakh people in West Bengal had lost their life’s savings due to the chit fund scam. He also promised that if the BJP came to power in the state, all the money that was looted would be recovered.
