New Delhi, Oct. 6: The Congress Party on Tuesday asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to break his silence on the Dadri lynching case, saying a tweet from him condemning the incident would suffice. (Read: BJP leader Siddharth Nath Singh criticises communal politics played by Azam Khan)
“I do not understand as to why the Prime Minister is maintaining silence on the issue. He should say something, or even if he comments on the issue by a mere tweet, it would appear that he is condemning the issue,” Congress leader R.P.N Singh told ANI here.
Singh also said, “Even their ministers are giving hate speeches on the Dadri lynching case, on the other side U.P cabinet minister Azam Khan is also commenting irresponsibly on the matter.” Singh accused the BJP and the SP of gaining political mileage for the BJP by acting in the same way as they had acted during the Muzffarnagar riots.
When asked to comment on Azam Khan’s controversial remark of taking the Dadri case to the United Nations, Singh said “They (S.P) are in power in U.P. If they control law and order situation properly in the state, the situation would definitely improve.”
Azam Khan had on Monday questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s silence on the Dadri lynching case. He had also had expressed his surprise over the sudden change in stance by the ruling BJP from development to the beef controversy
