New Delhi: With over 50 new cases reported on Friday alone, India recorded the biggest jump in the number of cases in a day which triggered the theory that not enough cases are being tested and identified. On Friday, the number of confirmed cases reached 236. Madhya Pradesh reported its first coronavirus case. Ahead of Janata Curfew on Sunday, as proposed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, all states announced the shutdown of bars, clubs, market places. Public transports won’t be available on Sunday so that people are encouraged to stay home, which will help contain the spread of the disease.

What added to fresh scare on Friday was singer Kanika Kapoor’s positive case as the singer recently met a host of politicians who all went under self-isolation after Kanika was tested positive on Friday. According to reports, Kanika Kapoor met Dushyant Singh and his mother BJP leader Vasundhara Raje at a party. As soon as Dushyant went under isolation, several political leaders followed the suit as Dushyant met them. Dushyant had also met President Ram Nath Kovind. Trinamool leader Derek O Brien, AAP leader Sanjay Singh, Congress leaders Deepender Hooda and Jitin Prasada went on home quarantine. As the number of cases is increasing by leaps and bounds, Centre has decided to screen all passengers coming from the US, Australia and the UK. Passengers arriving from 12 countries including China, South Korea, Japan, Italy, Iran, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Nepal and Indonesia are already being screened. Delhi has so far reported 17 positive cases, which includes one foreigner, while Uttar Pradesh has recorded 23 cases, including one foreigner. Maharashtra has 52 cases, including three foreigners, Kerala has recorded 28 cases, which include two foreign nationals and Karnataka has 15 coronavirus patients. The number of cases in Ladakh is 10 and four in Jammu and Kashmir.

Telangana has reported 17 cases, which includes nine foreigners. Rajasthan has reported 17 cases, including two foreigners. Gujarat has reported five cases so far.

Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Uttarakhand have reported three cases each.

West Bengal, Odisha and Punjab each reported two cases while Puducherry, Chhattisgarh and Chandigarh reported one case each. In Haryana, there are 17 cases, which includes 14 foreigners.
