Dispur: A four-and-a-half year old girl was tested positive for Coronavirus in Assam on Sunday. Notably, this is the first COVID-19 case being reported from Assam. However, a recheck of the samples is being at Indian Council of Medical Research and the result is expected to be out by today evening. Korati informed that the girl’s family hails from Pulibor area in the district and they had recently travelled from Bihar in a train to Mariani in Jorhat.
“The girl, her sister and her mother came to Jorhat on March 19. Health workers visited the family on March 20 and brought them to JMCH as the girl exhibited symptoms. A sample was taken for testing and today evening, the result came,” she said.
Meanwhile, all those who came in contact with the girl are being identified and placed under isolation.
On Saturday, the number of confirmed Coronavirus cases neared 300.
