New Delhi: A day after Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath visited Noida to review COVID-19 preparedness and gave a public dressing down to officials for their laxity, authorities on Tuesday seized a firm in sector-135 from where 16 of the city’s 31 COVID-19 positive cases have been reported. The action was taken on the orders of SL Yathiraj, the new DM of the Gautam Budh Nagar district, of which Noida is a part. Earlier, the state government had removed BN Singh as DM, Gautam Budh Nagar after he applied for leave even as the pandemic seems to be spreading in Noida.
The owner of the company, named Ceasefire, and some other persons had returned from abroad but neither did they disclose their travel history nor go into isolation. They later tested positive for virus and this resulted in spreading of the infection to other employees as well.
A First Information Report (FIR) was also registered against the company with regards to this.
On Monday, a video of the Chief Minister scolding BN Singh had gone viral on social media. In the video, he can be seen asking the officer to ‘stop this nonsense.’ Soon, Singh’s leave application, too, went viral on social media.
Noida, considered as the state’s commercial capital, has also emerged as its COVID-19 hotspot, having reported almost one-third of its confirmed cases thus far. Uttar Pradesh has thus far reported a total on 96 confirmed coronavirus cases.
