New Delhi: The death toll due to COVID-19 in Gujarat rose to 5 after a 45-year-old succumbed to the infection on Sunday. “He was suffering from diabetes. Yesterday, a 46-year-old COVID-19 patient had died at a hospital in Ahmedabad. She was admitted to the hospital on March 26. “She was suffering from Hypertension, Diabetes and was on ventilator”, Gujarat’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Hospital said in a statement. Meanwhile, six new positive cases were reported in Gujarat during past 24 hours taking the total COVID-19 cases in the State to 53. One new case each has been reported from Ahmedabad, Surat, Gandhinagar and Bhavnagar, state principal secretary (health) Jayanti Ravi said in Gandhinagar. Ahmedabad is on top with 15 cases, followed by Vadodara-eight, Gandhinagar and Surat-seven each, Rajkot-four and Kutch and Bhavnagar-one each.
