Coronavirus in India LIVE: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday asked people to not panic over coronavirus as different ministries and states are working together to fight the epidemic. “Had an extensive review regarding preparedness on the COVID-19 Novel Coronavirus. Different ministries and states are working together, from screening people arriving in India to providing prompt medical attention. There is no need to panic”, tweeted PM Modi.
The Prime Minister further advised people to take important measures to ensure self-protection. “We need to work together, take small yet important measures to ensure self-protection”, he wrote on the micro-blogging site.
His tweet comes hours after six new suspected cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) were reported in Uttar Pradesh’s Agra.
“Six cases with high viral load have been detected during sample testing in Agra. These are the ones who have come in contact with the COVID-19 patient from New Delhi, reported yesterday. They have been kept in isolation. Their samples are being sent to NIV, Pune for confirmation,” read a government statement.
“Contact tracing of the persons who have come in contact with these six persons is also simultaneously being done through the Integrated Disease Surveillance Program (IDSP) network”, the statement added.
Earlier on Monday, two cases of the COVID-19 were reported – one from the national capital and the other from Telangana. With that, the total count of those affected by the deadly virus right now, goes up to 8, in India.
