New Delhi: As India has entered the fourth day of the nationwide lockdown, the number of COVIOD-19 cases climbed to 834 with the death toll rising to 19, according to the Union Health Ministry. So far, deaths have been reported from Maharashtra (4) Gujarat (3), Karnataka (2 ) and one each from Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Bihar, Punjab, Delhi, West Bengal, Jammu and Kasmir and Himachal Pradesh. According to the data, the number of active COVID-19 cases in the country stood at 748, while 66 people were either cured or discharged and one had migrated.

Operation Namaste: Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane on has launched initiative ”Operation Namaste” to insulate the 1.3 million strong force from coronavirus infection and extend all possible assistance to the government in containing the pandemic. He also asked all Army personnel to take prescribed precautions against the virus and assured soldiers and officers deployed along borders with Pakistan and China that special care is being taken of their families in the wake of the pandemic.
He said that social distancing among the Army personnel may not be possible to implement in key formations due to tactical and operational reasons. Under ”Operation Namaste”, the Army has issued series of directives to all its bases to insulate the force from the coronavirus. The Army headquarters issued a number of advisories in the last few weeks to deal with the situation.
“To fight this problem (coronavirus), the government has taken several special steps. In this fight, it is our duty to help the government and civil administration,” the Army Chief said.
The Army has already set up command-wise helpline as part of measures to deal with any possible eventualities arising out of the pandemic.
159 Cases in Maharashtra: With six more persons testing positive for coronavirus in Maharashtra, the total number of such cases in the state has gone up to 159, officials said on Saturday. Of these six new COVID-19 patients, five are from Mumbai and one from Nagpur, health department officials said. On Friday, 28 persons were found infected with coronavirus in different parts of the state.
