Coronavirus in India LIVE Updates And Latest News: After observing a 14-hour voluntary ‘Janata Curfew’, 13 states including Delhi, Bihar and UP declared a statewide lockdown, as the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in India climbed to 396. Earlier states like Maharashtra, Kerala, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand, had imposed a partial or complete lockdown in view of the deadly pandemic which has claimed 7 lives so far across the country. Earlier on Sunday, 81 new cases were reported across the country, making it the largest single-day increase. Following this, the Indian government has asked all hospitals to be ready for COVID-19 patients as the number of positive coronavirus cases are expected to rise in coming days. On the other hand, the Modi government is reportedly considering adjourning both houses of Parliament sine die on Monday, in view of complete lockdown announced by many states. Notably, it had faced flak from many quarters for not ‘practicing what it preaches – social distancing’. Both houses will convene at 2 PM on Monday when the government is likely to pass the Finance Bill first. The treasury bench may also use the floor to make an appeal to people to stay indoors. Sources say that the government may adjourn both houses sine die following this.
