Japan’s Health Minister Katsunobu Kato had on Sunday updated that the number of positive cases was 70 onboard the Diamond Princess cruise ship which is docked off Yokohama. The Indian Mission in Japan said that it is in constant touch with the ship for the updates on the Indians who have been tested positive on the ship. As per latest updates, two more Indian nationals onboard the cruise ship quarantined after they were tested positive for coronavirus. The Indian Embassy in Tokyo further added that the four Indian crew members who were earlier tested positive for the virus are stable and responding well to the treatment. The Indian Embassy in a statement said that the number of Indian nationals who have tested positive for COVID-19 now stands at six. As per updates from the Indian Embassy, a total of 138 Indians, including 132 crew and 6 passengers, were among the 3,711 people on board the luxury cruise ship.
On the other hand, the US embassy in Japan stated that it was planning to evacuate its citizens off the ship on Sunday evening local time.
In Wuhan, the death toll from coronavirus epidemic continued to rise up with the latest toll reaching to 1,868 on Tuesday as 98 more people died while the total number of confirmed cases jumped to 72,436.
The National Health Commission stated that of the new deaths in China, 93 were reported from Hubei Province, three from Henan, and one each from Hebei and Hunan.
