New Delhi: The northeastern states of India reported the first case of coronavirus (COVID-19) on Tuesday morning after a girl who recently returned from the United Kingdom tested positive with the deadly infection. The 23-year-old woman has been put under isolation at a hospital in Manipur, while the family has also been quarantined. Medical tests are being conducted on people she came in contact with since her return. Also Read - Maniesh Paul Says Strict Action Should Be Taken Against Lockdown Violators



Manipur is among the 30 states and union territories that announced a complete lockdown to contain the further spread of the contagious infection. Notably, the northeast had already closed its borders with neighbouring countries Myanmar, Bhutan and Bangladesh when the outbreak erupted in the country. At least 75 people across the country have tested positive for the deadly COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, following which the number of confirmed cases in India rose to 471. The total count also includes 41 foreign nationals who tested positive in the country and nine deaths. The casualties were reported from Gujarat, Bihar, Karnataka, Delhi, Maharashtra, Punjab, Bengal and Himachal Pradesh.
