Patna: In the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, the Bihar government on Friday ordered all schools, colleges and coaching institutes to be closed till March 31. However, the students will receive the money for mid-day meals in their bank accounts until the schools are re-opened. In its advisory, the government said: “All schools, colleges, and coaching institutes will remain closed till March 31 in view of Coronavirus Pandemic. Earlier today, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar chaired a high-level meeting on Coronavirus in Patna.

The government also decided to cancel all government programmes related to Bihar Diwas, which was to be observed on March 22.

No case of coronavirus has been reported in Bihar.

Meanwhile, India reported its first death due to coronavirus on Thursday as the number of positive cases soared to 75, with authorities taking emergency measures to contain its spread like shutting down schools, colleges and cinema halls in the national capital and some other places as well.

The Union health ministry confirmed that a 76-year-old man from Kalaburagi in Karnataka, who died on Tuesday, was infected with the coronavirus.
