New Delhi: One of the residents of Supertech Capetown Society in Noida’s Gautam Budh Nagar tested positive for COVID-19 virus on Saturday. The action was taken on the orders of Gautam Buddha Nagar District Magistrate BN Singh. “Under Epidemic Diseases Act-1897 section 2, the Supertech Capetown Group Housing sector 74 Noida to be sealed with immediate effect,” the letter read. Furthermore, the letter said that there was one COVID-19 positive person living in society. Therefore in order to break the chain of transmission of the disease the entire compound of the housing society was needed to be locked down on a temporary basis with effect from March 21, 10 AM to March 23, 7 AM. The entry and exit of all gates of the society will remain sealed. Besides, all the residents have been asked to stay inside their flats for the stipulated time period mentioned in the order unless unavoidable circumstances. “Those who violate the norms will be charged under Section 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC)”, said the directive.

Meanwhile, the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Uttar Pradesh climbed to 23 on Saturday. Addressing a press conference, UP CM Yogi Adityanath said,”A total of 23 people have been found to be infected with coronavirus in the state. Out of the total cases, nine people have recovered. We have sufficient number of isolation wards in the state”.

He also announced that a monetary aid of Rs 1000 for 5 lakh daily wage labourers and 20.37 lakh construction workers. “In the wake of the current situation, we have decided to give Rs 1,000 to the daily wage labourers, rickshaw pullers, etc. who are registered with the labour department. About 15 lakh people who are dependent on daily income for their livelihood will also be given the same monetary relief. The exercise will be carried with the help of labour department”, the UP CM said in a presser.
