New Delhi: A day after resigning from the Congress, Jyotiraditya Scindia on Wednesday joined the BJP in the presence of party’s president JP Nadda. As per latest updates, the BJP is likely to name him as one of its candidates for the Rajya Sabha polls in Madhya Pradesh. The BJP, on the other hand, is also confident of forming the government in the state with the help of 22 MLAs who have also tendered their resignations from the Congress. Addressing a press conference soon after joining the BJP, Scindia slammed the Congress and said that the party is not the same as it used to be. He also went on to say that Congress has moved far away from reality. “There is a denial of reality in the Congress, it has changed what the party used to be,” he said. “I would like to thank BJP chief JP Nadda, Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for inviting me into the BJP family,” he said.
Saying that his aim has always been to serve people, Scindia said that he was hurt and distressed as he was not able to serve the people in Congress.
“My aim has always been to serve people and politics only a means to fulfil that. I was hurt and distressed as I was not able to serve the people in my previous organisation,” he said.
Slamming the Congress further, he said the dream which he along with his former colleagues saw for Madhya Pradesh has been shattered in 18 months.
On Tuesday, Scindia met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and PM Modi and then tendered his resignation to Congress president Sonia Gandhi saying it was time for him to move on.
