The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) politicians who attended the meeting include Home Minister Amit Shah, Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar, Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Earlier in the day, in an effort to further tighten the rules and regulations of the nationwide lockdown, the Central government issued a fresh advisory and warned the violators to send to 14-day compulsory quarantine. Issuing the advisory, the Central government said that those who violate the lockdown and travel during the period of lockdown will be subject to minimum 14 days of quarantine in government quarantine facilities.
On March 26, Rajnath Singh asked the armed forces, defence public sector undertakings and other military organisations to provide all possible assistance to civilian authorities in their efforts to halt the spread of coronavirus in the country.
He had issued the directive while chairing a high-level meeting to review overall preparedness of the defence ministry in containing the spread of the coronavirus.
