Nagpur, Sept 30: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Saturday said that cow protection goes is not a matter of religion but goers beyond it and many Muslim men have sacrificed their lives in Gau Rakhsha. “Protection of the cow just as people of Bajrang Dal have,” Bhagwat said at a Dussehra event in Nagpur. “I know many Muslims are involved in rearing & protection of cows.”
About incidents of alleged lynching by Gau Rakshaks, Bhagwat said that it is reprehensible. ” In fact violence of any form is,” he said, adding, at the same time many people have been killed by the cow smugglers. “We must look at the issue of cow protection beyond religion,” he said in Nagpur while addressing the crowd which had gathered to take part in Vijay Dashami festivities.
“It is unfair to link the cow protectors or their activity of cow protection with violent incidences without knowing the facts,” said Bhagwat. Weighing in on cow protection, Bhagwat added that for the progress of small farmer, rearing of cows is a must. “Protecting cow and cow-based agriculture is directed by Constitution,” he said.

Speaking about cross-border smuggling of cows, Bhagwat said the cow trafficking takes place at the Bangladesh border. However, hailing government’s efforts at tackling cross-border infiltration, Bhagwat said that curbing separatists’ illegal financial source has curbed their action and propaganda.
About Rohingyas, he said that Rohingyas will not only be a burden on the employment but will also pose threat to our national security if they are allowed to stay in India. “Wo wahan se yahan kyun aaye hain? Wahan kyun nahi reh sake? (Why have they come here? Why couldn’t they live there?)” he asked.
