New Delhi, May 6: D Roopa Moudgil, a senior police officer on Twitter praised a Bharatiya Janata Party Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy. The officer made headlines after she reported on the alleged preferential treatment given to former All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) chief V. K. Sasikala in jail on Saturday.

“The versatile person without whose complaint, probably, the lady (who enjoyed perks and privileges in Bengaluru prison as exposed by me) wouldn’t have landed in prison in the first place. Sir, u inspire!,” D Roopa tweeted along with a selfie. Moudgil said in another tweet that Swamy’s activism against corruption and black money should inspire his enemies.

A Twitterati named Ashwin Kumaraswamy said in response to the officer’s tweet, ” Hasn’t he aligned with the same corrupt politicians? Hasn’t he aligned with corrupt within BJP? If he was against corruption why hasn’t he spoken about Reddy Bros clout in BJP?.”

Moudgil replied saying, “I could have very well challenged my transfer order after I gave jail report. The transfer was within one year which is against the fixed tenure of one year as per Karnataka Police Act. My decision not to challenge transfer or selfie wid truly inspiring people- both not political.”

Former DIG Roopa had claimed in her report that Sasikala had allegedly paid a bribe of Rs 2 crore to prison officials for preferential treatment inside Parappana Agrahara Prison in Bengaluru. She had also claimed that Karnataka Director General of Prisons (DGP) Satyanarayana Rao and city central jail officials accepted bribe from Sasikala for undue favours. “As a reward for bribing the prison authorities from Rao to jail warden, Sasikala gets special menu daily, cooked by special chefs in a special kitchen near the women’s cell,” Roopa Moudgil had claimed. Prison officials later confirmed that Sasikala did get preferential treatment in the Bengaluru Jail, as was claimed by D Roopa.

Sasikala is currently serving her four-year-jail-term for her involvement in a disproportionate assets case.
