Dadri lynching: Bihar poll verdict is a tribute to my father, says Akhlaq’s son

Bisada, November 8: On Sunday morning when whole nation was keeping a close watch on poll results in Bihar, some thousand kilometres away people in a tiny village of Bisada, Dadri, were too witnessing the verdict when the politics of hatred came to an end.

People of Dadri, where Akhlaq Ahmed was lynched by a mob in September over a rumour of slaughtering a cow, where living under the shadow of hatred and were reliefed when the verdict came against BJP. Read Also: (Dadri incident monstrous: Lord Bhiku Parekh)

Several other villages in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar were relived after they saw the mighty hatred campaigning of more than two months were torn apart by the peoples mandate in Bihar and people choose their leader on politics related to development.

Sartaj Ahmad, Akhlaq’s eldest son and a corporal in the Indian Air Force, reportedly said, “Bihar verdict is a tribute to my father, the people had united against the gathering forces of communalism. There is no space for hate politics in our country. Bihar results is a tribute to my father, and against hate and communalism”.

He further said, “People should realise there is no gain in fighting in the name o religion. I appeal to all politicians not to divide the country for the sake of power”.

There was an unexpected power cut in Bisada village on Sunday morning during the poll count. However the residents gathered at homes installed with inverters and generators.

Bhoop Singh, ex-pradhan of the village, was quoted in Times of India where he said, “I was born in this village and had never experienced communal tension after Akhlaq’s unfortunate death, which hurt me deeply.”

He further said, “Bihar poll results are a slap on the face of those who are floursihing through hatred politics”.

On 28 September 2015 evening, two boys used the local temple’s public announcement system to spread the rumour that the family of Mohammad Akhlaq had killed a cow and consumed its meat on Eid-ul-Adha. Later, the police called this rumour to be cause of the lynching.
