Lucknow/New Delhi, Oct 3: The lynching of Mohd Iqlakh for consuming beef on Monday night by a mob in Dadri in Bishada village had forced the both the state and the central government to look into the matter very seriously. Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav had announced an ex-gratia of Rs 20 lakh to Iqlakh’s family, while the Union Minister of State for Home, Kiren Rijiju had clearly stated that enough politics have been done on the issue and the government will take proper action once it gets the report. Speaking to media, Kiren said that the government is waiting for the report to come, as too much of politics is going onto this matter. He said, “Report aane dijiye, kyunki iss par bahut zyaada rajneeti ho rahi hai. Let the report come, we will take action accordingly.” Earlier in the day Indian Air force chief Arup Raha had said that IAF have taken the responsibility of the security of the family and senior officials have reached the spot to relocate them to a safer place. Arup said, ” “We are trying to help the family to move into a safer place. Our senior officers have already reached the place.” He ruled out that the an official letter would be sent to the state government regarding the sad issue. However, after the issue gained a political mileage with high-profile politicians visited the place, the state government had announced Rs 20 lakhs to the family.
Also, since Tuesday, political visits to the village have increased. Latest to the addition was Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, who interacted with the family on Saturday evening. After meeting the family, Gandhi said on his tweeter account, “It is very sad to see the trust and harmony built over decades, destroyed by the politics of hate. Saturday was an eventful day to the Dari village. First Arvind Kejriwal was stopped to meet the family, but later allowed; then Shivpal Yadav went to the place, and later Rahul Made his visit. Earlier, Union Minister Mahesh Sharma had met the family and All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) leader Asaduddin Owaisi had also made their political visits. However, Iqlakh’s son Sartaj, who works as a technician in the Indian Air Force had requested the state government that they don’t want to meet any of the political visit, but what they want is a fair probe. As per to the reports, 10 people have been arrested.
Mohammed Iqlakh, 55, who was beaten down to death, while his 22-year-old son Danish son was critically injured by a mob on which barged into their house following rumours that the family had consumed beef, on Monday night.
