New Delhi, Dec 27: The intelligence agencies have warned the Tihar jail authorities of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim‘s possible bid to target Chhota Rajan and asked them to review his security inside the high-profile prison. The intel agencies received the inputs when one of Delhi’s top gangster Neeraj Bawana’s aides boasted about a plot to kill Rajan during a possible drunken talk. Earlier, Bawana too had revealed the plot to kill Chhota Rajan to a visitor.

The aide, a known gangster in NCR who was out on bail, dialed another aide in a drunken state and revealed about the “big tasks” coming ahead. “Bawana may have been contacted by a conduit set up by D company to outsource the killing of their most sought after target for the past two decades,” a source told TOI. The intelligence agencies gathered that local criminals in Delhi-NCR would try to target Chhota Rajan and any hit on the underworld don would be a win for the D company. Neeraj Bawana, who is also lodged in the same jail as Chhota Rajan, was shifted to another isolated cell when this conversation was picked up by the intelligence agencies. A few mobile phones were recovered from Neeraj Bawana’s cell, in jail number 2, a few days before he was moved to an isolated cell in the same jail. However, the Tihar jail authorities have argued that it would be difficult for Dawood Ibrahim or any of Bawana’s aides to contact him in Tihar.

“Chhota Rajan’s cell is at the end of an alley in jail no. 2 while Bawana is in an isolated high-risk ward. Rajan has special, verified guards, and cook who are checked thoroughly by other guards,” a Tihar official told Times of India, adding that it would be impossible for Bawana to target Chhota Rajan in Tihar jail.

Dawood Ibrahim has been trying to get Chhota Rajan ever since he left them after the 1993 Mumbai blasts. The first attempt to kill Rajan was made at an apartment in Sukhumvit Soi area of Bangkok when four men barged into the apartment and opened indiscriminate fire. Rajan escaped but his aide Rohit Verma was killed.
