New Delhi, September 13: In a major diplomatic win for the Narendra Modi government, the British government seized the assets owned by fugitive underworld don Dawood Ibrahim in the United Kingdom. Ibrahim is wanted in India for various acts of crime and terrorism, including the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts.

Dawood left Mumbai almost three decades ago after the Mumbai blasts in which around 260 people were killed and over 700 were injured. He is estimated to be worth $6.7 billion while rewards totalling $25million are on offer for his capture, according to Forbes business magazine.

According to a PTI report, Dawood is recorded to have lived at: White House, Near Saudi Mosque, Clifton, Karachi, Pakistan; House No 37, 30th Street – Defence Housing Authority, Karachi; and Noorabad, Karachi, Pakistan (Palatial bungalow in the hilly area).

Dawood was born in Kher, Ratnagiri and his nationality is listed as “Indian” with a recorded Indian passport which was later revoked by the Ministry of Home Affairs in India.
