Srinagar, Sep 30: Terrorists today attacked a security forces’ picket in Kulgam district of south Kashmir but no one was hurt in the incident, police said. “Militants opened fire on a joint picket of Police and CRPF at Behibagh in Yaripora area of Kulgam district at around 5.00 pm,” a police official said. He said no one was hurt in the attack carried out by militants, who fled from the scene after firing. Security forces have cordoned off the area and launched search operations to track down the assailants, he said.
The militant attack on the CRPF convoy comes a day after the surgical strikes were carried out by Indian army across the border in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK). A total of 7 terror launch pads were targeted in PoK, with the intention cause maximum number of casualties. A total of 35-40 terrorists were killed in the covert operation carried out by Indian para commandos, as per unverified reports.
However, Pakistan has denied such claims of surgical strike. Instead it accused the eastern neighbour of violating ceasefire and killing two soldiers.
United States of America has taken cognizance of the growing bilateral friction between India and Pakistan. While urging the latter to act against terrorists on its soil, it also requested India to resume the dialogue process with Pakistan.
The political leadership of both the nations have shown a stubborn stand. Pakistan Defence Minister Asif Khawaja did not refrain from warning India of the nuclear warheads developed by Pakistan. “These tactical weapons are not show pieces. When it comes to our security, we will use these tactical weapons,” he said while speaking to local media.
