New Delhi, December 17: Though the winter has arrived in the national capital, political arena is giving a tough fight to the chilling cold. Two days after the CBI raids at the Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s office, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) organised a press conference at the constitutional club on Thursday claiming to expose the Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA) scam. The party also alleged that the DDCA scam is the Commonwealth Games (CWG) scam of Cricket and demanded the resignation of Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.
Claiming that the CBI raids were done by the ruling Central government to get the details of the files being inspected by Kejriwal on the alleged scam of Rs 90 crores involved in the construction of stadium. AAP said that for the construction only Rs 24 crores were spent, but Rs 114 crores were allocated as total, so where did Rs 90 crores go? Speaking to the media, AAP spokesperson Raghav Chadha said, “Under FM’s tenure,a budget of Rs 24 crore was approved to construct DDCA stadium, whereas Rs 114 crore was spent. AAP also alleged that the corruption took place during the tenure of Jaitley who was then the President of DDCA. Clarifying the details of Rs 90 crores, Jaitley had said that Rs 57 crores was paid to a public sector company and the rest were distributed to five small companies. However, AAP claims that the report submitted by the ‘Fact Finding Committee’ revealed the five companies getting the regular payments from DDCA have the same registered address and email ids. Chadha added, “A loan of Rs 1 crore 55 lakh was granted to three companies by DDCA, reason behind this grant was not given. Why?”
When asked about the reactions from the ruling Narendra Modi-led BJP governement, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister said that he do not want to react on the baseless allegations. Sharing the same views, Union Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad took the support of Arun Jaitley and called him an honest man, but on the other side slammed AAP.
