Mumbai, September 23: The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) shocked the country on Friday by formulating the perfect plan to target the softest targets from Pakistan. The MNS has asked actors and artistes from Pakistan, such as the famous actors Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan, to leave India. The party would give the actors 48 hours after which the party would “push them out”.
Though after the dastardly Uri attacks in which 18 of India’s brave soldiers were martyred, emotions are definitely running high throughout the country, the targeting of Pakistani artists residing in India does not seem the right way to go. The Indian laws do allow for the repatriation or detention of an alien from an enemy country during times of war. Therefore, it isn’t that the MNS is stating something which is out of the realms of possibility but there definitely are valid reasons as to why the party should not push for such extreme views. The reasons are not also completely humanitarian though of course, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena would do well to not forget the guest culture that India is renown for. There are many who reason that since the Pakistani actors and singers earn their bread and butter from India, it remains their duty to speak up against the terror inflicted upon India. Though, this reasoning might make sense it is again no appropriate for India to hold them to it as a requirement for their continued stay in the country.
The Pakistani actors provide the perfect access for India to the vast masses inhabiting Pakistan. There are already questions among the Pakistanis, as to why if India is such a bad country and if Hindus and Muslims cannot live together, why do so many famous Pakistani personalities yearn to stay in India. Some very famous singers like, Adnan Sami Khan have even taken up Indian citizenship.
It is important that India makes maximum usage of the one thing that Pakistan will not be able to buy from the U.S.A or China, celebrities from the enemy country. It is also extremely important that India keeps the business interests of these singers well secured. They can then be personally approached to by the Indian government to promote the various initiatives taken up by them. The promotion does not have to be anti-Pakistan . Moreover, hey are the biggest diplomatic asset that India has against Pakistan. The Indian government must exhibit the Pakistani actors at international diplomatic fora as the representation of India’s large-heartedness and ideal human rights condition. Therefore the Maharashtra Navanirman Sena (MNS) would be doing the nation a disservice if it sent back the ideal ambassadors who are living examples of the way Indians practice the mantra, ‘Aditi Devo Bhava’.
