New Delhi: A 20-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide in Karol Bagh area of the national capital. She had moved to Delhi to prepare for her civil service exams. The incident took place on Saturday evening. The deceased was identified as Shrimathi, a resident of Tamil, was living in a rented accommodation.

The incident was reported when her friend came to meet her. When the victim didn’t respond, she informed the neighbours who called the police.

Briefing on the matter, police said that when the room’s door was broken, the victim was found hanging from the fan.  The deceased has left a note apologising to her parents for taking this drastic step.  DNA quoted DCP (central) Mandeep Randhawa saying that the matter under investigation.

Her friend informed police that Shrimathi was under tremendous pressure. Her family was informed and her body has been handed over to them.

In her suicide note, she has simply apologised to her family members including her brother, father, and mother. In the letter, she has not blamed anyone and also did it mention any specific cause for taking this drastic step.

Police further said that the deceased’s parents wanted her to pursue a career in medicine, but she wanted to become an IAS officer. She had moved to Delhi from Erode to prepare for UPSC exams.
