Delhi: 24-year-old Woman Raped by Self-styled Godman; Accused Arrested Along With Two Others

New Delhi: A self-styled godman including was arrested from Janakpuri area in the national capital for allegedly raping a 24-year-old woman in an ashram. Two other persons, both women, have also been taken into custody.

The case came to light when the victim filed a complaint with the Delhi Commission of Women (DCW) about the matter. In her complaint, she accused a self-styled godman of raping her. She also alleged being molested by her colleague, a woman, who introduced her to the ashram.

Narrating her ordeal, she claimed that on one of her visit to the ashram, she was strictly advised to consume only fruits throughout the day after which she was to attend a healing session.

The same evening, when she reached the ashram for a healing session, the victim met a woman who introduced herself as the godman’s secretary. As she was feeling too tired, she urged the godman’s secretary to get the session rescheduled. However, the latter insisted her to attend the same and spend the night at the ashram.

The victim further claimed that during the healing session she was made to eat some food which was ‘spiked’. Soon, her colleague entered the room in a semi-naked condition, followed by the godman who was completely naked. As per the complaint of the woman, her colleague touched her inappropriately and the godman raped her.

The victim informed the DCW through an email, following which an FIR was registered at the Janakpuri Police Station.
