New Delhi, May 30: A 32-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday for raping a 16-year-old girl with whom he had become friends on Facebook, a social media network. The sexual assault came to light when the girl fell ill and was later discovered to be pregnant.

After a few months of chatting on the social media networking site, the man invited the girl to his room where he sexually assaulted her. He also asked the girl not to report the matter to anyone, Times of India reported.
Even though the girl didn’t tell anyone about the assault, the matter came to light when the girl fell ill and was taken to a doctor. Upon a medical examination, the doctors told her parents that she was pregnant.
Since the girl was a minor, the medical staff also informed the police of her pregnancy. Upon questioning, the girl told her parents about the man and how he had raped her. The police were informed and the accused was arrested from Noida in Uttar Pradesh.
The police said that they are examining the call details of the man to check if he had exploited any other girl in past.
