New Delhi, July 2: A five-year-old girl died in Northeast Delhi’s Seelampur after being slapped by her father multiple times. Police have arrested the father and booked him for murder.
According to police, Raja, who is a daily wage labourer came home drunk. He started beating his wife. Later, when Saloni-the deceased tried to stop the fight, the father slapped her thrice in a fit of rage. After which, her nose started bleeding. She was rushed to a hospital but was declared brought dead.
The hospital officials informed the police about the matter.
In an earlier incident on June 30, a nine-year-old boy was allegedly killed by his step-mother in Punjab. The accused allegedly slit the boy’s throat with a knife as she was jealous of the boy’s bonding with his father and threw the body into a village canal, Senior Superintendent of Police Amritsar (Rural) Parmpal Singh told PTI. The SSP said the body was found in the village canal of Ajanla. The boy’s mother approached police and accused the woman of killing her son, he said. She told police that the woman and her husband used to indulge in heated arguments because of the boy.
In another case on June 28, two minor girls were found hanging from a tree in Bihar’s Begusarai district. The bodies of the two girls, residents of Sonapur Tola under Khodawandpur police station area of the district were found by their family members. Police said investigations were on to ascertain as to whether the two girls had committed suicide or their bodies were hanged after murder. One of the girls was 14-year-old while the other was 15-year-old, they informed.
