New Delhi: An elderly man was thrashed with baseball bats over a parking lot tiff in west Delhi’s Hari Nagar on Wednesday evening.  The 63-year-old man has been identified as Mahinder Pal Singh and a case of attempt to commit culpable homicide has been registered against the accused.

The incident happened when Singh’ son asked their neighbour to move their motorbike so that he could park his car in front of his house- to which he refused, following which they had a verbal spat.

Singh intervened to calm down the raging tempers and in turn, was thrashed by his neighbour and his son. A report in Times of India quoted Singh’s son, “They abused my father. When I asked them to watch their mouths, they turned aggressive…” The 63-year-old Mahinder Pal Singh was hit on his arms, legs and head.

Soon the local residents stopped the fight but could not catch Singh’s neighbour and his son.

A case has been registered in the Hari Nagar police station and the CCTV footage is being examined to ascertain the facts. Speaking to locals, the police found that the father-son who assaulted Singh would often fight with others over the limited parking space.

The accused duo is still absconding.
