New Delhi: A 55-year-old woman was killed allegedly by a teenager outside her house in Dwarka’s Uttam Nagar in west Delhi, police said. The boy, an aspiring rapper who was later arrested by the police, allegedly committed the crime on Monday with the help of a gang.
Police are seeing it as a case of extortion as the woman was killed after she refused to pay money to the accused. On January 5, the police laid a trap to nab the accused from Najafgarh Road in south-west Delhi. Upon interrogation after the arrest, the boy narrated the ordeal. He said he had become a drug addict and began committing crimes for money. He was also under the influence of rap artists and aspired to become one himself. A case of extortion was registered against the accused at Uttam Nagar police station on January 3.
In a similar incident in November 2018, three policemen of Haryana Police’s Special Task Force were suspended after a Delhi businessman alleged that they kidnapped him in the national capital and extorted Rs 19 lakh for his release. The victim, an electronic goods shop owner in Delhi, had alleged that the three kidnapped him on gunpoint and released him after extorting the money.
