New Delhi, Mar 27: In order to make national capital more safe for women and minor girls, the Delhi Assembly on Tuesday passed a resolution seeking amendments to existing laws to make stalking a non-bailable offence and to award the death penalty to those convicted of raping minors. While presenting the resolution, Lamba said that incidents of stalking and crime against the women are rising and that’s why there is an urgency of bringing the amendment in the law. She also said that the government should make stalking a non-bailable offence in an anti-stalking bill, reported in media. The resolution stated that law should be amended to make stalking a non-bailable offence. The law should also be amended to make juvenile rape punishable with the death penalty. Recently, states like, where crime against women are reported most, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan passed a bill to give death penalty to child rapists.
National capital records highest number of crime against women. Eve teasing and stalking is most common problem which women face in usual and sometimes there are killed by their stalkers. Central and state government have come up with some measures but still these crime gets unreported.
