New Delhi: A 51-year-old man was arrested on Monday for firing two shots outside BJP MP Hans Raj Hans‘ Rohini office in Delhi, stated news agency ANI. Earlier today, deputy commissioner of Police of Rohini SD Mishra informed about the attack and said that further investigation is underway.
No casualties were reported in the incident as the criminal shot at a closed office. Having fired shots, the miscreant fled from the scene by riding a car, stated a report. Notably, the criminal who fired the bullets has been identified as Rameshwar Pehalwan. He was also arrested later on in the day.
Pehalwan’s vehicle and weapon have been confiscated and a case has been registered against him under section 336 and 427 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Meanwhile, a video of the firing incident was tweeted by stated news agency ANI on Monday.
In the month of August this year, the BJP MP Hans Raj Hans had suggested that the prestigious Jawaharlal Nehru University of Delhi be renamed after Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He made the suggestion while speaking at the varsity on the abrogation of Article 370.
Hans Raj Hans joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on December 10, 2016. He won from the North West Delhi constituency in the Lok Sabha Elections 2019 by defeating Aam Aadmi Party candidate Gugan Singh with more than six lakh votes. Notably, this singer-turned-politician is known for receiving the honourable Padma Shri award. During his music career, he used to sing Punjabi folk and Sufi music (even in movies) and has ‘Punjabi-pop’ albums of his own.
