The murdered businessman’s 19-year-old son was also stabbed in the attack and is currently battling for life at a hospital.

A daily quoted DCP (West) Monika Bhardwaj as saying that those involved in the murder are a rickshaw puller and his three sons, two of whom are minors. The four have been apprehended and booked for murder.”

The incident occurred on Sunday night. The victim, who lived in Moti Nagar’s Basai Darapur with his wife, daughter and son, reportedly ran a shop and rented out two others. Both his children are college students.

At around 2 AM on Sunday, the businessman was on his way home along with his daughter after they had been to a hospital for her migraine treatment.

The deceased businessman’s brother told ANI, “My brother and his daughter were returning from the hospital. The lane was almost blocked by 4-5 men. When he honked at them, they made lewd remarks and tried to molest her. After dropping her home, he went back to them, they attacked him. Their families helped them in the attack. My nephew was also stabbed and is admitted to the hospital.”

When the businessman went back to the men to confront them for their behaviour, he and his son were allegedly stabbed by the abusers. The businessman’s wife and daughter rushed out and took the injured men to the hospital.

“They surrounded my uncle and cousin and stabbed them using a butcher’s knife. My uncle was murdered for only objecting to them misbehaving with my cousin,” a daily quoted the nephew of the deceased as saying. “My uncle received three deep wounds and died on Monday morning after battling for his life. My cousin was also stabbed multiple times and remains critical.”

Since the suspects lived in the same neighbourhood, they were quickly identified by the businessman’s daughter. Among the arrested are two boys aged 16 and 17.
