New Delhi, Feb 24: A team of Delhi Police reached Chief Minister Arvid Kejriwal’s house on Friday to review CCTV footage in connection with the alleged assault on Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash earlier this week. According to reports, the police team is also likely to quiz Kejriwal’s staff over the sequence of events at his Civil Lines residence on Monday midnight.

Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash had alleged that he was manhandled by two Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs during a late night meeting on Monday (February 19). The assault, Prakash claims, took place in the presence of CM Kejriwal.

The police seized recordings of 21 of CCTVs installed inside the premises of the CM house. “There are 21 cameras installed out of which 14 were operational& recording was off in 7. There was no camera in the room where the incident took place. The cameras were running behind time by 40 minutes. We have seized recordings of 21 CCTV cameras and a hard disk, ” Harendra Singh, Additional DCP, told reporters.

Reacting to the Delhi Police ‘raid’ at his house, Kejriwal took a dig at the BJP government and asked whether authorities would dare to quiz BJP president Amit Shah in connection with Judge Loya death case. “Police being sent  to my house. They are investigating, this is good. But I wonder when Amit Shah will be quizzed in Judge Loya case?” Kejriwal tweeted.

CM Kejriwal’s adviser VK Jain on Thursday told police that he saw AAP MLAs Amanatullah Khan and Prakash Jarwal “physically assaulting” Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash.
A Delhi court had earlier in the day sent the two to judicial custody for 14 days.

The AAP, however, defended party MLAs by stating that Jain had initially told police that he did not witness any assault and police has threatened Jain to change his statement. The AAP had denied the charges of assault and said that the Chief Secretary was making allegations at the behest of the BJP.

Medical Report Confirmed Assault

The medical report of Anshu Prakash reportedly confirmed that he was indeed assaulted allegedly by AAP MLAs. According to the medical report issued by the Aruna Asaf Ali Government Hospital, Anshu Prakash had cut marks and swelling on his face. There are ‘tenderness and mild swelling behind both ears’, said the medical report.

The report also confirmed swelling on Anshu Prakash’s right cheek and bruise over lower lip and right side.
