New Delhi, May 21: A 16-year-old domestic help was killed by her employer in Delhi’s Miyanwali Nagar for demanding her salary. The police on Saturday recovered the body parts of the domestic help that her employer had thrown into a drain in Miyanwali Nagar. The police have arrested the accused Manjeet Singh Karketa from his rented accommodation in Nangloi’s Bhooton Wali Gali and are looking for the other two accused, identified as 31-year-old Shalu and 36-year-old Gauri.
“Manjeet disclosed that he, along with his accomplices, brought the victim, Soni Kumari, to Delhi three years ago. They found her employment at a house in East of Kailash,” DCP Rajender Singh Sagar told Indian Express. Soni used to earn Rs 6000 per month and Manjeet used to take all her salary. A year later, Soni started demanding her salary to go back to Jharkhand.
Manjeet then took her to his rented room in Nangloi and tried to calm her down. When his efforts failed, Manjeet and two other accused killed her and chopped her body off in several pieces. They then put the pieces in plastic bags and dumped them into a drain in Miyanwali Nagar to cover up their crime.
“They showed the photo to residents… one of them said he had spotted the girl in a house in Bhooton Wali Gali. The team when to the house but found it locked… Manjeet was finally nabbed on May 17 when he visited his residence,” the DCP told the police. Manjeet later told the police that they used to take the salaries of Kumari and split them among themselves.
