New Delhi: Five people were arrested on Tuesday in connection with the murder of a Delhi Police constable on November 29, stated news agency ANI. The deceased cop, identified as Dinesh Kumar, belonged to Sector 17 in Rohini.
The 25-year-old traffic policeman was allegedly beaten to death in Delhi. The accused later dumped the body in a deserted area, stated police officials. The body was recovered from the Shahabad Dairy area in Rohini on November 29. Police noted that the body had head injuries.
Kumar joined Delhi Police in 2014. He was posted with the Delhi Police traffic circle at Parliament Street, said a senior police officer. Police used the help of CCTV cameras installed near the area for possible clues to finding those responsible for the murder. They claimed that Kumar was beaten to death in one place, while his body was disposed at another place.
After the postmortem, the body was handed over to Kumar’s family.
On November 29, the same day when Kumar was killed, a 55-year-old ACP-rank officer allegedly committed suicide by jumping off the police headquarters building in central Delhi. Police said that the deceased, identified as Prem Vallabh, was posted in the crime and traffic unit of the Delhi Police. In a note recovered from his office, Vallabh who was suffering from depression wrote that no one should be held responsible for his death.
